It's one of the hottest holiday gadgets you can get someone who's all about their workout.
Fitness trackers are not just pedometers - they track how much you're moving, burning and even eating every minute of the day.
The trackers use sensors to count each step you take and count the calories you burn. But are they accurate? Consumer Reports ran some tests and compared the step count.
"Three of the trackers show how you're doing while you're exercising, and most of the panelists said they really like that feature,” said Consumer Reports’ Nicole Sarrubbo.
One that gives instant encouragement is the Fitbit One. The taller the flower, the more you've moved. If you're goal driven, that could be added motivation.
The Fitbit One costs $100 and earned top ratings. As for how it works, Joseph Jose says his tracker has helped him shed 40 pounds and counting.
"What I found out is that I was actually moving a lot less than I thought I was,” he said.
Another bonus with the Fitbit One is it lets you track the calories you eat and how well you sleep. Some of the trackers even sync with your smartphone, depending on what type you have.
