Is fitness gadgets worth the investment? - Examiner.com

The big debate is, do fitness[1] gadgets help your fitness journey or do they make it easier to be lazy? Mercury News[2] reported on Dec. 4, 2013 that fitness gadget[3] help achieve your goals; however, they can’t do the work for you. They went on to say that fitness gadgets may help inspire someone to walk more, run more, or compete with their virtual friends.

Before applications and fitness gadgets, online competition was reserved for pictures you could take and stories you would tell. Now, you even buy a wireless scale with Bluetooth technology that can send your weight to an application of your choosing, instantly.

Many experts believe the one fitness gadget[4] that can be very useful is a heart rate monitor. A heart rate monitor[5] can encourage you to push yourself further by watching for your targeted heart rate. Most heart rate monitors also will show an estimation of calorie burned exercising.

Even still, a gadget can only measure activity. The person still will have to get off the couch and move to get results. Applications and fitness gadgets[6] do make the science of losing weight much less confusing.
