HUNTINGTON -- Studio 8, a yoga studio located at 803 8th Ave., has some special offerings in upcoming weeks including a workshop focused on back pain and three weeks of sessions focused on a mind, body and spirit cleanse.
HEALING BACK PAIN: Dr. Nikki Ward, a licensed osteopathic family physician practicing at Marshall Family Medicine, will offer "Osteopathic Manipulation Therapy: Healing Back Pain" at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14. Ward graduated from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2010 and completed a residency at Marshall University.
The workshop will provide an overview of back pain from a whole-body perspective, while incorporating the philosophies and healing properties of yoga. Participants will explore natural and holistic treatment options for acute and chronic back and spine issues and learn why these treatments can be more affective than traditional medicines. Cost of the workshop is $25. Ward will provide manipulation treatment sessions following the workshop for an additional $25.
MIND BODY SPIRIT CLEANSE: Beginning on Friday, Jan. 3, Studio 8 will offer a 21-day mind, body, spirit cleanse. For 21 days, participants will have unlimited access to more than 30 classes a week, workshops on mindfulness, Ayurveda and nutrition. They also will receive shopping lists and nutritional information from registered dietitian Lacy Davidson.
A mindfulness workshop will be provided by licensed professional counselor Nichole Webb, and an Ayurveda workshop with yoga instructor and Studio 8 owner Joan St. Clair.
The entire program costs $100. For those who may only want to attend Saturday morning workshops, they are planned for 10:30 a.m. Saturdays throughout the program and will cost $25 each.
