GRAPEVINE, Texas — Starting today, GameStop (NYSE: GME), the world’s largest multichannel retailer of video games, is taking final pre-orders on the launch day edition of Microsoft’s next generation, all-in-one gaming and entertainment system, the Xbox One.
For a limited time only, pre-orders for the Xbox One standard edition can be made at any U.S. GameStop store location or online at www.gamestop.com/xbox-one[1] with a $100 deposit that will be applied toward the $499 cost of the console.* All customers reserving now can pick up the console on the launch date, November 22.
“Calling all gamers, if you have not pre-ordered your Xbox One console, now is your last chance,” said Bob Puzon, senior vice president of merchandising for GameStop. “We have worked closely with Microsoft to offer our customers another opportunity to pre-order an Xbox One before its official launch date. One of the many great features of the Xbox One is that there are no limitations to using and sharing games and players can share and trade in games as before.”
This new supply of consoles available for pre-order follows the trade program launched earlier this fall in which GameStop is offering a guaranteed $50 upgrade credit for its PowerUp Rewards™ members who purchase eligible Xbox 360 games to trade toward the purchase of the new Xbox One version of those same titles for just $9.99. Of the eligible titles, two of the fall’s biggest games launched this week to great fanfare: Electronic Arts’ Battlefield 4 and Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag.
“Microsoft is excited to partner with GameStop to bring Xbox One to consumers at launch and as part of our Area One hands on events,” said Matt Barlow, General Manager of Xbox Marketing. “Xbox One has an award-winning line of blockbuster games coming this holiday, the biggest and best online community, and is the only console to bring all your entertainment together in one place.”
GameStop customers can also pre-order the first games available on the new system, including these titles exclusive to the Xbox One: Ryse: Son of Rome and Forza Motorsport 5, published by Microsoft Studios, as well as Capcom’s Dead Rising 3.
In addition, related accessories, such as the wireless controller, headsets and more are available for pre-order and while at GameStop, customers can also purchase an Xbox LIVE Gold membership that works across both the Xbox 360 and the Xbox One.
*Limit one console pre-order per household. Quantities are limited, so customers must secure their console today.
