Oct. 26: Costumes are encouraged for the 5K Run/Walk along the High Line Canal trail, 5:45 p.m. A costume contest is at 5:30 p.m. Fees vary. Denver Gorilla Run


Oct. 26: The tenth annual 5K and Guinness World Records Holding Event is a benefit for the Mountain Gorilla Conservation Fund (MGCF). Participants may run, walk, ride, rollerblade or skateboard. Everyone gets a full gorilla suit to keep (included with fee). Registration begins at 9 a.m., the Guinness World Record Court (for the most people dressed in gorilla suits) is at 10:15 a.m., start time is 11 a.m. The Silverback Block Party for participants (free) and spectators ($10 each) follows with food, beer and live music. Prizes will be awarded. Fees vary for adults and children, discount if you already have your suit. Great Pumpkin Haul


Oct. 26: A benefit for Colorado children's charities where participants "haul" a pumpkin through a cross country course, 8-9:20 a.m. race-day registration, packet pick-up and choose your pumpkin, 8:30-9:15 a.m. free pumpkin boot camp class, 9:30 a.m. race begins. Pumpkin Boot Camp


Oct. 26: Arapahoe Community College and Camp MissFits present the seventh annual boot camp, 8-11 a.m. "Be a Rock Star" is the theme and participants are encouraged to come in their best rock star outfits and bring a 6-10 pound pumpkin. Prizes will be awarded. All ages and fitness levels are invited. Suggested donation is $25 for ages 11 and over, $12 ages 4-10. Fountain Creek Nature Center

Life Line Screening


Oct. 23: Stroke and Osteoporosis screenings by appointment. Screenings take 60-90 minutes to complete and packages start at $159. Screenings identify potential cardiovascular conditions, abdominal aortic aneurysms and hardening of the arteries in the legs. A bone density screening to assess osteoporosis risk is also offered. DCCV's Yoga Classes


The Denver Center for Crime Victims (DCCV) presents a series of gentle yoga workout classes to offer emotional and physical benefits. Weigh and Win


South Suburban's Buck Recreation Center is offering an ongoing free program that pays individuals (age 18 and over) to achieve a healthy weight through a partnership with the City of Littleton and Kaiser Permanente. Those already at their ideal weight will be awarded with incentives and rewards for maintaining it. Success is measured and tracked through quarterly weigh-ins at a kiosk located inside Buck Recreation Center. Participants also have access to online coaching tools.
