Eli Shetler is owner and managing partner. The hours are 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Friday and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday.
How long have you been in business?
We took over an existing fitness business at this location about 15 months ago and then became Gravity Fitness seven months ago.
How many employees do you have?
We have 20 employees here at Gravity, from front desk, coaches and trainers.
What type of athletes train at Gravity Fitness?
Mixed martial arts fighters, high school athletes, semi-pro basketball and hockey players, boxers, CrossFit athletes, power lifters, female fitness competitors and body builders. But the majority of our members are everyday people looking to improve their level of fitness.
What services do you provide?
Members can work out on their own or with a trainer or come to fitness classes like CrossFit or boot camp and martial arts. Many people like the social aspect of a class. They can show up, work out for an hour, then go home, but in a social and fun atmosphere. We try to introduce different types of workouts and levels of fitness to members. You have to mix up your workouts to get over that fitness plateau.
What’s your fitness background?
I was in the military for 15 years, fought MMA for Pat Miletich for six years, and have been a trainer for 15 years. I like to bring out the best in people.
What do you like about having your business in Bettendorf?
I like the people. They are nice to be around and respectful. They help to create a great atmosphere here.
