Get moving: Monona Terrace Lunchtime Yoga - Wisconsin State Journal

A series of free community programs at Madison’s Monona Terrace continues in October with Lunchtime Yoga. Drop-in sessions will be offered two days a week, from noon to 12:45 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays through Oct. 21.

Lunchtime Yoga at Monona Terrace, 1 John Nolen Dr., is designed with a focus on breathing, stretching and strengthening. The aim is to allow participants to take a mid-day break, relieve stress and learn ways to help them cope with challenges they might face in the remainder of the day.

Classes will be taught by Natalie Buster, who has trained at Sundara Yoga Therapy in Austin, Texas. All levels are welcome. Bring a mat or towel, or use the carpeted floor area.

Yoga sessions will be held in the Community Terrace area of the convention center. Public parking is available in the Monona Terrace ramp.

The Monona Terrace website includes four handouts related to Lunchtime Yoga: two for Gentle Yoga Sequence, one for Gentle Yoga Chair and one on Yoga for Shoveling. The handouts include detailed instructions for poses and stretches.

In addition to yoga, another mind-and-body class will be offered at Monona Terrace beginning later this month. Meditation at Monona Terrace will be 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Mondays from Oct. 28 through Dec. 16.

This also is a free drop-in class, to be held in the Community Terrace area. Meditation handouts and audio recordings of previous sessions are available online.
