Will the Fitbit Force outperform the Fitbit Flex?

Fitbit, a company that provides wearable fitness technology, is getting ready to launch a new band to act as its flagship offering, according to a new report.
The company is working on a fitness band called Force, which will come with more capabilities than Fitbit's currently available Flex band, The Verge reported[1] on Wednesday, citing people familiar with company plans. The device will come with an altimeter to measure a person's altitude and a "Floors" feature to identify how many flights of stairs a person has climbed in a given period of time, according to The Verge.
Fitbit competes with a wide range of companies in the fitness-tracking space, including Nike. The Fitbit Flex has proven popular among certain customers, but it has yet to reach broader mainstream adoption.
According to The Verge's sources, the Fitbit Force attempts to make up for some of the Flex's limitations by adding a better display. The upcoming device also features a physical button to flip through settings and features, whereas Flex users touch the screen to make adjustments. Also, unlike the Flex, the Force is a watch as well, The Verge's sources say.
There's no word on when the Force will hit store shelves, but The Verge's sources say the device could set customers back $129.95 at launch.
CNET has contacted Fitbit for comment on the report. We will update this story when we have more information.
