DAVISON TOWNSHIP, MI – Residents in Davison Township have received statewide recognition[1] for their willingness to get up and go.

The community has earned a silver level award through the Promoting Active Communities program of the Michigan Fitness Foundation, one of 11 locations across the state to receive some recognition for their participation in an online fitness assessment.

“Davison Township is truly a gem in Genesee County, said state Rep. Pam Faris, D-Clio, whose district includes the township. “I congratulate the community on embracing active living as an economic development strategy to bring jobs and keep residents from finding working elsewhere.”

Assessment items from the PAC program include building policies, environments and programs that help support active living in communities. Other areas recognized in 2013 include Waterford Township, Novi, Manistee, Charlevoix, Farmington Hills, Hastings, Grand Ledge, Grosse Ile, and Byron Village.

The award comes on the heels of completion of a 1.8-mile long public trail through Davison and Daviosn Township. The trail extends from M-15 east on Lapeer Road, down Russell Alger Drive, to Davison High School, then west to Clark Road, ending on Main Street in Davison.
