Ups and downs of a yoga mom gets her swear on!
I have asked my colleagues in the blogging community to write guest posts for my Moms Who Drink And Swear: Chicago Edition[3] blog while I'm getting my new site de-glitched, and getting my momma's entire goddamn LIFE packed up to move into an assisted living community for senior old farty pants peeps (yeah, I'm talking about you, Mom. xoxox). And so, without further ado...I present a good goddamn post by BETH who writes the blog Ups and downs of a yoga mom[4] here on ChicagoNow! She's not sweary as a general rule, but I challenged her to get nasty.
Miss Beth was all - CHALLENGE ACCEPTED, BITCH! Kidding. She didn't call me a bitch, she actually said very nice things about me in her post, but I ask that you ignore those things and keep thinking of me as a stark, raving, mad, freak show, because setting the bar low helps me maintain my mediocrity. Thankyouverymuch.

Ups and Downs of a Yoga Mom[5]
I met Nikki aka Moms who Drink and Swear[6] in a Wrigley Field box about few years back. I was a brand new blogger and Nikki was quickly blowing up all over the place. I looked it her in admiration and she reminded me behind a blog there is always a person and no matter how many “likes” they have they still deal with shit (both literally and figuratively) everyday.
A year ago I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and forced to spend many hours in bed. I had a hard time concentrating on television and found comfort and connection inside my computer.
Nikki Facebook messaged me to see how I was doing and gave me advice on good books to read and must-see Netflix series to watch. She commiserated with me and gave me encouragement during a time I needed it.
Recently when Nikki and I discussed a guest post on the fabulous MWDAS, her only rule was, “take the opportunity to cuss like a mofo.”
Now, I am a yoga mom and try my best to be kind and grateful. Don’t get me wrong, I swear. Ask my husband; he can attest to the fact that I swear when I am mad.
Do you know what is bullshit? When people on the CTA do not give up their seats for pregnant ladies, or old people or those with a cane, a limp or even a small child. It is hard to ride the hot, crowded train with morning sickness. I did it purposely wearing tight clothes to emphasize I was in fact with child. This was years ago, but I have always wanted to tell those assholes, “Fuck you for looking at your phone and pretending you cannot see my huge belly in your face.”
Do you know what else I hate? Cancer. Fuck Cancer.
Why do assholes continue to bring guns in public buildings and kill complete fucking strangers?
This swearing thing is hard.
Some days I want to swear at MS. Why the fuck was I given this disease? It sucks and is fucking messing with 400 thousand people in the United States. Many have suffering relationships, debt and disability. It is a really shitty way to tred through life.
And the meds don’t help; they bring out irritability, insomnia, mood swings and depression.
Fuck chronic diseases and ignorant assholes.
I guess we all need to swear sometimes.
FUCK YEAH WE DO, BETH! Find and "like" Ups and downs of a yoga mom on Facebook[7] and follow her on Twitter[8] too!
