LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- “My family is like most – if mom gets sick, everything shuts down,” exclaims Tia to Healthy Hollywood.
The “Tia & Tamera” reality star and mother of a 2-year-old son is similar to other busy parents, in that a breakout of the flu can derail the entire family. “We’re too busy for that kind of chaos, so health is a top priority in our household. We eat a healthy diet, exercise regularly and are good about frequent hand washing, especially during cold and flu season.”
To ensure her family and others are getting the message to protect themselves, she’s teamed up with Medimmune Specialty Care. As part of their stay healthy campaign, Tia is encouraging others to get vaccinated with FluMist Quadrivalent, which is a needle-free nasal spray. She’s also put together a take action online video, “I insist”. “In the past, I had avoided flu vaccination, but after hearing about last year’s intense flu season, I talked to my doctor and realized that a flu vaccine is the best way to help prevent, which can be serious.”
Healthy Hollywood can attest to the flu’s potential nastiness. I got struck down by the flu – not once, but twice. Just like Tia, I have never bothered to get the flu vaccine, but you can bet this season I will be making the trip to my doctor’s office.
In fact, less than half of adults and just over half of children get the flu vaccine. So, take preventative action and hopefully you can avoid a week or more on the sidelines with the flu.
