Yoga studio opens


Bent Yoga studio opens at 111 E. St. Paul St. in Brighton. The studio will hold free classes throughout the day.


Class times are 9-10 a.m., 10:30-11:30 a.m., noon to 1 p.m, 1:30-2:30 p.m. and 3-4 p.m.


Participants should bring a mat, water and a towel. Parking is available across the street from the studio.

Chambers gather for networking event


The Pinckney Putnam Hamburg Hell Chamber of Commerce and the Whitmore Lake Chamber of Commerce will hold a morning networking event from 8-9:30 a.m. at The Wild Indoors, 9564 Chilson Commons Circle in Hamburg Township.

Learn about bicycling


Hometown Bicycles at 10605 E. Grand River Ave. in Brighton Township will launch a free, eight-week clinic to help those interested in learning about bicycling and preparing for the bicycling season.


The one-hour sessions will be held from 6-7 p.m. Wednesdays through Feb. 26. Sessions will also be available Thursdays beginning this week and continuing through Feb. 27.


Topics include safety, hands-on care and maintenance, fitness, nutrition, bike-fitting basics, proper equipment, emergency repairs, where to ride in Michigan and the best cycling events in Michigan.

Group focuses on business growth


The Hartland Business Builders, a program of the Hartland Area Chamber of Commerce, will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Majestic at Lake Walden, 9600 Crouse Road in Hartland Township.


Attendees can learn about area businesses and how to bring growth to their businesses. A one-time $10 fee to join and chamber membership are required. There is no charge for visitors to attend their first two meetings.

Entrepreneurs to meet


The Livingston Entrepreneurs Group United for Prosperity, or LEGUP!, will meet from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Johnson Center at Cleary University, 3750 Cleary Drive in Genoa Township. There will be networking at the end of the session. Present and future entrepreneurs are invited to attend. There is no charge to participate.


LEGUP! is a free program presented by chambers of commerce in association with the university, the Livingston County Small Business and Technology Development Center, SCORE and the Brighton District Library. Meetings take place the second Wednesday of the month.

Luncheon will feature fitness presenter


The Hartland Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a networking luncheon from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Dunham Hills Golf Club, 13561 Dunham Road in Hartland Township.


The presenter will be Chris Schild from Body Within Fit.


Cost is $15 for chamber members or $20 for others.

Program will help kick off healthy 2014


Saint Joseph Mercy Health System will host a program to kick off a healthy new year from noon to 3 p.m. at Saint Joseph Mercy Brighton, 7575 Grand River Ave. in Genoa Township.


The Daily Press & Argus is one of the sponsors of the program, which will include screenings for skin cancer; blood-pressure and body-mass index measuring; fitness checks with IHA pediatricians and family medicine physicians; a virtual skiing/snowboarding activity; a ShapeDown weight-management activity; and healthy snacks and prizes. Family yoga will run from 12:15-1:15 p.m., and yoga for back health will run from 1:30-2:30 p.m.
