City Slang: Live yoga at the DSO - Detroit Metro Times (blog)

DSO

Sometimes, the weirdest stories are the best. The Detroit Symphony Orchestra has announced that, as part of its wildly popular Mix @ the Max series, there will be a chamber music yoga class on Sunday, January 26 at 10 a.m.

They say, “oga Shelter instructor and DSO Librarian Ethan Allen will lead the first ever Om @ The Max, a yoga class accompanied by live chamber music. A DSO string quartet will serenade an hour-long class with expertly curated repertoire designed to match the rhythm of each yoga flow. Following the class, students may recharge with a raw juice bar and healthy snacks served in the atrium.”

Before that, on Tuesday, January 14 at 7 p.m., featured artist Peter Soave and a Detroit Symphony Orchestra string quartet will join forces to bring you a fiery tango-inspired performance including works by Piazzolla and more.

“Recognized worldwide as the foremost master of the bandoneon and concert accordion, Peter’s vibrant virtuosity has accredited him as one of the leading soloists of his generation. Dancing encouraged. WDET’s Alex Trajano will be the evening’s host.”
