Community yoga


NEW CASTLE, PA.


Jameson Health System is offering Intermediate and Gentle Movements community yoga classes the first three Tuesdays of each month at 5:15 p.m. and 6:15 p.m., respectively, beginning Jan. 7 at Jameson North Campus dining area, 1211 Wilmington Ave. Lori Brothers, certified yoga instructor and director of the Jameson Hospital Dean Ornish Program for Reversing Heart Disease, will lead the sessions.


Gentle Movements chair/floor sessions are the last three Wednesdays of every month from noon to 12:45 p.m. beginning Jan. 15 at the Jameson Rehabilitation Center, 3410 Wilmington Road.


Classes are open to the public. The pre-registration price is $15 for three classes or the drop-in fee is $7 per class. Payment should be made by Friday by mailing cash or checks made payable to Jameson Hospital; or to Community Yoga, 1211 Wilmington Ave., New Castle, PA 16105 to the attention of Lori Brothers.

Smoking cessation


ALLIANCE


Alliance Community Hospital is offering a free smoking cessation program, “Clearing the Air,” from 6 to 7 p.m. on four consecutive Thursdays beginning Jan. 9 and ending Jan. 30.


Smoking-cessation patches are not being offered as part of the program that is conducted in the hospital’s Conference Room 1-B, 200 East State St.

Diabetes classes


WARREN


Trumbull Memorial Hospital, 1350 East Market St., is offering educational classes for diabetes patients from 2 to 3 p.m. on Jan. 6 and 7 and 1:30 to 3 p.m. on Jan. 8 and 9 in Diabetes Room 905.


Physician referral is required. Call Diabetes Services at 330-841-9689 to register.


Childbirth classes


WARREN


Trumbull Memorial Hospital, 1350 East Market St., is offering childbirth preparation classes from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 6, 13 and 20. Participants should register before their seventh month of pregnancy. Call Educational Services at 330-841-9880.


More on diabetes


YOUNGSTOWN


Diabetes HELP Group self-management classes are offered from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Jan. 7 and 8 at Northside Medical Center, Gypsy Lane. The classes are for adults recently diagnosed with diabetes, who never had formal classes, or anyone having difficulty controlling their blood glucose levels.


Classes are taught by a registered nurse certified in diabetes education and diet instruction by a registered and licensed dietitian.


There is a fee. Physician referral required. Call 330-884-3115.


New infusion center


BOARDMAN


The new St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center infusion center is open for patients. The center, located on the first floor adjacent to the main lobby, offers many IV therapies, with a physician’s order, seven days a week, including holidays.


The center provides an alternative to hospitalization, nursing home admission or home care.


Infusion therapy, prescribed when a patient cannot be treated effectively by oral medications, involves the administration of medication through a needle or catheter directly monitored by a registered nurse.
