Anytime Fitness Inc.[1] has acquired a 38-acre site in Woodbury, where it plans to build a new corporate campus.

The fitness chain, which is currently based in Hastings, paid $1.6 million for the land at the southwest corner of interstates 94 and 494.

The site will "accommodate a 'campus' feel that offers an indoor/outdoor experience for our employees and frequent visitors from around the world," Anytime co-founder and CEO Chuck Runyon[2] said in an email. "We believe that our franchisee training and employee-centric focus will be enhanced through intentional design to foster collaboration, engagement and by creating a setting that cultivates emotional growth, physical improvement and intellectual capacity."

The site also will provide access to more hotel, restaurant and shopping options for global visitors, he said.

Construction is scheduled to begin in spring, with Anytime's corporate staffers slated to move into the new campus in late summer or early fall of 2015.

Anytime has hired BWBR[3] of St. Paul as the lead architect. Coen and Partners[4] of Minneapolis will assist with landscape architecture.
