Bikram Hot Yoga Memphis coming to Overton Square - Memphis Commercial Appeal

The revived Overton Square has landed Bikram Yoga Memphis as a tenant.

Owners Christine Boyer and Isaac Christopher signed a 3,500-square-foot lease at 2105 Madison Avenue, Suites 204-206.

The studio joins Cardio Barre on the second floor of the building that formerly housed the ice skating rink and Palm Court Restaurant. The $40 million redevelopment of Overton Square already has already drawn a number of restaurants, retail and health-related businesses, including Delta Groove Yoga.

“Bikram is exactly the type of established destination tenant we wanted for the second floor of the old Palm Court building,” Aaron Petree, vice president brokerage for Overton Square landlord Loeb Properties, said in a release. “They will be a great complement to the existing tenants and will offer Overton Square patrons another option for healthy living.”

The lease is a westward expansion of Bikram Yoga Memphis from East Memphis where it has had a studio in Sanderlin Centre since 2005.

“Bikram Yoga Memphis is a natural fit as Overton Square increasingly becomes the new epicenter in Memphis for people’s active and vibrant lifestyles,” Christopher said in a release. “The magnetic energy surrounding the revitalization will bring people from across the region to the new school. With the broadening and diversifying of the customer base, Bikram Yoga Memphis can better transform the community with the hot, hip and highly effective benefits of this yoga.”

Bikram yoga, which features hot yoga, is a 26-posture sequence performed in a heated room.

The yoga room will use an advanced heating system with ample fresh air circulation, and the flooring will be built with closed-cell antimicrobial technology keeping away germs, bacteria, and odor, Boyer said, adding, “It is slip-resistant, stain-resistant, 100 percent waterproof and extremely comfortable.”
