The Somerset County Park Commission Recreation Department has announced open registration for the fall session of Classic Hatha Yoga with classes for both beginners and practiced. The low-impact program will introduce adults to the healthful benefits of yoga and improve on existing skills for those who previously participated.
The 10-week evening program will be held on Wednesday evenings beginning Sept. 18 at Park Commission Headquarters at North Branch Park, 355 Milltown Road in Bridgewater. Beginner sessions will run from 5:30-6:30 p.m. with the advanced session running from 7-8:30 p.m. Fee for the beginner session is $80 and the fee for the experienced session is $100.
Hatha Yoga is a slow-paced stretching exercise combined with simple breathing exercises and seated meditation. It is a good opportunity to learn basic poses, relaxation techniques, and become comfortable with yoga.
Participants are requested to wear comfortable clothing and bring a Yoga mat. Mats will be available for purchase at the first session for a fee of $25.
Preregistration is required and forms and information may be obtained by calling 908-722-1200, ext. 226.
