As a woman of a certain age, I am finding it increasingly difficult to lose weight. With the time and energy restrictions of a single parent with a lot of career obligations – one of which being the wonderful opportunity to review local restaurants – I continue to struggle to find the motivation to achieve my body-composition goals. But the bottom line (pun intended) is this: You just have to fit it in.
The aptly-named Fit it In Fitness is going to help me do that.
Owner Danielle Tetreault should be familiar to readers of this page. Tetreault writes a health and fitness column for The Telegraph, which runs on the fourth Sunday of the month. She is beginning an eight-week fitness “boot camp,” and I will be a part of it. And I’ll be taking you along for the ride, too.
Over the course of two months, I will report in the Health section every Sunday. I also will record weekly video blogs that can be viewed online at www.nashuatelegraph.com and will take photos of my (hopeful) transformation. I will share training tips, exercise and diet suggestions, and how I’m faring physically – and emotionally.
Why am I doing this? Why am I putting myself through a rigorous fitness program, and more amazingly, sharing my experiences with the Greater Nashua viewing public?
There’s no answer; I’m actually asking.
Just kidding.
I’m willing to put myself out there like this because I know a lot of folks share the same struggles as I do, and many people have much more to deal with than I. My hope is that by watching me go through the Fit it In Fitness program, someone will be inspired to find a way to improve their own health.
Lifestyle changes can be difficult to start, and to maintain. But truly, if you don’t have your health, what do you have? I owe it to myself – and my young daughter – to be the healthiest, most energetic, vibrant person I can be. I need to stick around.
I hope you’ll read this weekly column and find it helpful, informative and maybe even entertaining. Please feel free to contact me if you have questions about the program or what I’m doing.
Let the journey begin!
