Coolidge Corner Yoga opens Sept. 29 - Wicked Local

Coolidge Corner Yoga, a full-service yoga studio, announced that it will open its doors on Sunday, Sept. 29. As part of its Grand Opening week, from Sept. 29 to Oct. 5, Coolidge Corner Yoga will allow anyone to take two free yoga classes selected from its full lineup of adult, teen, child and prenatal offerings. All new members of the studio can take advantage of an ongoing promotion — 30 days of yoga for $30.

Coolidge Corner Yoga is the brainchild of Dr. Tatyana Souza, a former senior research scientist at Pfizer. After completing her PhD in immunology in 2006, Souza worked at Pfizer for six years trying to push forward drug research to help people through modern medicine. During that time Tatyana also discovered yoga as a manifestation of traditional medicine when she stumbled into a Forrest yoga class while newly pregnant with her first child.

The core belief at Coolidge Corner Yoga is that the practice of yoga can silence mental stressors by directing focus into challenging the body, leading to a calmer, more connected state and allowing practitioners to “feel good, do good” — the studio’s mantra. Coolidge Corner Yoga plans to donate half of its annual profits to worthy causes, causes that will be determined by a community vote.

Adult Vinyasa yoga classes will be taught in parallel with kids’ yoga classes (combining light yoga with fun games) in the late weekday afternoons and Saturday mornings so that parents and their children can all attend yoga at the same time. Coolidge Corner Yoga’s teachers will offer classes for every age group — from prenatal yoga to “Mommy and Me” classes, teen yoga, and yoga for adults — and every ability, from beginner classes to advanced practice.

Coolidge Corner Yoga is at 1297 Beacon St. For more information, visit http://www.coolidgeyoga.com/[1]
