SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- A 35-year-old man suspected of taking exercise equipment from a Scottsdale apartment complex was taken into custody early Wednesday morning.
Scottsdale police said Donovan Roberts was seen entering the fitness center at the Dakota Apartments near Thompson Peak Parkway and Bell Road and removing a stationary exercise bike at approximately 2:15 a.m.
When he realized he was being watched, he left the bike and fled the complex in a U-Haul truck, according to police.
Officers found the truck southbound on the Loop 101 and stopped it at Thomas Road.
Roberts was taken into custody for warrants and burglary.
Additional fitness equipment believed to have been taken from a separate exercise room at the apartment complex was recovered from the truck.
