Talk about heated yoga.
A Southern California studio is under fire after encouraging members to wear do-rags and roll their pant legs up for a “ghetto” themed yoga class.
“Please come dressed in your favorite ghetto fabulous outfit, snap-back caps, corn rows, heavy lip liner or whatever you dream up,” instructs an ad for the class[1] at Power of Your Om Yoga in Santa Barbara.

It’s stamped with the acronym, “N.W.A,” to mean “Namaste with Attitude,” and includes a link to a WikiHow page titled “How to Be Ghetto Fabulous.”
Online, critics blasted the studio as racist and demanded the class be canceled.

A typical class at the Southern California yoga studio.
“This is mocking a culture you are not part of for personal gain,” one commenter wrote on Facebook[3] . “It’s rude, hurtful and racist.”

Another suggested the class time be used instead for a “discussion on racism.”
Photos show blond, ponytailed yoginis sporting fake grills and throwing gang signs on brightly-colored mats.
In response to the criticism, Power of Your Om Yoga founder Adrienne Hengels changed the class name from “Ghetto Fabulous” to “Hip Hop Yoga.”
She apologized, but won’t be changing her heart-pumping playlist.
“Having a yoga class to rap music is not a mistake, but making it ghetto fabulous was not cool and really insulting,” she wrote on her Facebook page. “I am deeply sorry.”
