Mayor Mark Lauretti joins Taylor-Made Fitness co-owners Renee Daconto and Patricia Taylor, as well as family members and other guests, at a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the business.

A boutique fitness studio has opened on Bridgeport[1] Avenue in Shelton.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place Nov. 22 at Taylor-Made Fitness, 515 Bridgeport Ave. Co-owners Patricia Taylor and Renee Daconto were joined by family members, friends, Mayor Mark Lauretti and Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce President Bill Purcell.

Taylor-Made Fitness will focus “on personal attention and [providing] an environment where the members can feel comfortable,” according to publicity material.

It has been designed “for those who prefer smaller groups and personal attention. We don’t sell memberships…we sell results,” the co-owners said.

Personal training, small group classes

The business will offer personal training and a variety of small group exercise classes, such as yoga, Pilates, TRX, zumba, kick-boxing , bootcamp and spinning.

More than 50 classes a week will be available to members, with a variety of both class card options and unlimited class packages. Taylor-Made Fitness also will provide team-building exercise classes to youth sports teams as well as corporate events.

State-of-the-art spin room

The facility’s dark spin room has new-to-the-market Spinning Blade Ion bikes, each with a personal computer that tells the rider their RPM, power, calories, time and miles ridden. For more competitive members, there is an option to compete with yourself or other riders, all to be viewed on a 60-inch TV.

Taylor-Made Fitness also offers a brand new class called Spinband, which combines elastomer-based resistance while riding on a spin bike. It gives a new meaning to the word “full body workout,” according to publicity material.

Giving back to the community

The co-owners said they plan to hold regular events to benefit the community, and on Thanksgiving Day they invite the public to join them for “spinning and kickboxing” to raise money for Spooner House in Shelton.

Participants are asked to donate a minimum of $5, with all proceeds going to the organization that serves the homeless and others in need.

Be open seven days a week

Taylor-Made Fitness will be open weekdays from 5 a.m.-8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m.-noon.
