“Twilight” star Kellan Lutz has cut coffee and candy from his diet after learning caffeine and sugar are the worst things he can put into his body.

The actor and model is currently detoxing after bulking up to play Hercules in new movie “Hercules: The Legend Begins” and he reveals he went to experts in an effort to find out exactly what he should be eating and drinking.

He was shocked by their findings and has adopted a new “cavemen diet” to make sure he’s as healthy as ever for the start of 2014.

He tells “Access Hollywood Live,” “It’s really important to learn about your body and I’ve gotten some tests done just to learn about what I’m allergic to and they (medics) actually said that caffeine is not good for me and that I should be a vegan but I love meat.

“So I’ve been trying this new paleo diet … and I feel healthy; I’ve cut out all of the sugars. … I have candy drawers all over my place, so waking up and seeing my Starbursts and Gummi Bears. … Knowing

that it’s not good for me though has been very easy (to give up).”

Lutz has also been swimming for miles to stretch out his body and he’s perfected a fitness regimen that he can use while he’s promoting his new blockbuster.

He explains, “I’ve created some patents for some work-out devices that are fun for me to use … so when I travel and I’m staying in hotel rooms, I get to bring my inventions with me and just work out in a fun way.”
