Fitness-obsessed mom banned from Facebook - New York Daily News

She's at it again!

A fitness freak mom-of-three was banned from Facebook after posting a tirade against plus-size women who pose in lingerie to promote body confidence.

Maria Kang, from California, has shot into the spotlight once more by writing she was "annoyed" by "news stories about how overweight, nearly obese women should be proud of their bodies," according to California TV station News10[1] .

Maria Kang runs a fitness website and makes her living as a trainer.

The 32-year-old — last month dubbed a "fat shamer" for uploading a snap of her toned body and kids with a "What's your excuse?" caption — said Curvy Girl Lingerie's selfie photo campaign "normalizes being unhealthy."

"We need to change this strange mentality we are breeding in the U.S. and start celebrating people who are a result of hard work, dedication and discipline," she wrote[3] .

Curvy Girl Lingerie — which sells underthings for plus-size women — became the target of Maria Kang who was furious that a company would promote an unhealthy lifestyle as sexy.

"I'm not bashing those who are proud and overweight, I am empowering those who are proud and healthy to come out and be the real role models in our society," she added[4] .

She received thousands of "likes" for her rant.

In a bid to celebrate 'real beauty' without the magic of Photoshop, the Curvy Girl Lingerie shop launched a campaign asking women to post 'sexy' selfies on its Facebook page — sparking outrage from the fitness nut.

But Facebook deemed her thoughts as "hate speech" and blocked her access to the site for 48 hours, removing the post and comments.

It later apologized, via News 10[6] , and admitted the content had been "mistakenly removed."

"I think she is doing a great thing by fighting against unhealthy, dangerous lifestyles. It is a scary thing when the morbidly obese are gaining societal acceptance for a toxic lifestyle that will put them into an early grave," one Reddit user said[8] .

"Being fat is not healthy. No amount of pretending is going to change that," added another[9] .

Others, however, were less than impressed.

"Un-liking this girl now. She's gotten so annoying," said one critic.

A second echoed that, adding[11] : "It makes her annoying and judgmental. I think I'd rather be fat and happy than in shape and annoying like her."

Chrystal Bougon, who runs Curvy Girl Lingerie, dismissed the post by saying that "everyone is entitled to their opinion."
