The $40 million facility in Montvale is one of more than 100 Life Time centers.

Life Time Fitness says it has hired about 200 full- and part-time workers at its new fitness center, opening this week in Montvale[2] on the former BMW headquarters site.

The 150,000-square-foot, $40 million facility is one of more than 100 fitness centers operated by Minnesota-based Life Time. It was built on a 9.3-acre tract and includes two indoor pools and one outdoor pool, a salon, a café, child care, and spaces for team sports, dance, exercise and martial arts classes, and other activities.

The center is starting out with 200 employees, including fitness instructors, personal trainers, child care workers, lifeguards and others, according to General Manager Phil Zerante. The center is expected to have more than 300 employees next summer, when the outdoor pool is open.

The club is the third Life Time center in New Jersey, joining clubs in Florham Park and Berkeley Heights.

A company spokeswoman said the company chose the Montvale[3] site because it is just off the Garden State Parkway, in an area with both active families and corporate employees who could use the center before or after work.

Monthly memberships start at $149 for an individual, $229 for a couple and $319 for a family.

The company declined to say how many members could be accommodated at the Montvale[4] site.
