Fitness tip of the week - Philly.com

Healthful eating is very important when it comes to long-distance running. Here are some tips if you are starting a serious running program. (1) Complex carbohydrates provide you with fuel that can burn off steadily. Whole- grain breads and pastas, veggies, and potatoes are good sources. (2) Lean proteins aid in muscle recovery. Try chicken, eggs, nuts, and fish. These are good to eat prior to your run. (3) Water is especially important for those who tend to sweat more. Water keeps your muscles and body hydrated.
