The desire to have a fitness facility offering a variety of classes plus one-on-one training is what inspired Jaime Faller to open Break Thru Fit, 1099 E. U.S. 223 in Adrian.
Break Thru Fit has its grand opening from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, and Saturday, Nov. 30, with classes rolling out the next week. The facility will offer classes Monday through Friday from about 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Morning classes will be by demand. Saturdays will be “open gym” days from 9 am. to noon, with one-on-one fitness sessions geared toward non-members following from noon to 1 p.m.
Faller, with the assistance of another teacher, will offer Zumba, Pilates, yoga, abs workouts, boot camps and pole fitness classes. Other types of workouts may be added depending on demand.
Abs workouts feature a whole range of exercises designed to strength the stomach area, while boot camp is an intensive workout that still “is going to be fun,” Faller said. “It won’t kill you.”
As for the pole fitness class, it does use a vertical pole but the workout is far from whatever image that conjures up.
“It’s a great class for self-esteem. It’s the best workout possible and you don’t even realize it,” Faller said. Participants use the pole for a variety of flexibility, core and upper-body exercises.
“I’m looking forward to teaching it,” she said. “It’s the most fun class to me because I love doing it.”
The pole fitness classes are only for participants age 16 and up, with parental consent required for those ages 16 to 18.
Personal training and massages, which are by a certified therapist able to provide a wide range of massages including one for pregnant women, are available by appointment. The gym will also have a nutritional bar for fruit and vegetable smoothies.
Faller decided she wanted to open her own facility after moving to Lenawee County from Toledo, where she worked for a gym for “forever.” She enjoyed that gym’s personal approach to fitness and wanted to open a facility that offers classes, rather than a place where “you walk in and work out and you leave,” she said.
Break Thru Fit’s memberships are $40 per month, month to month, for unlimited classes with no contract; $30 per month for a three-month contract membership; or $20 per month for a six-month contract membership. Personal training and massages are extra. If someone wants to only take the pole fitness class, the cost is $40 for eight weeks of three times per week classes, or $60 for 16 weeks of classes.
The facility also offers a special “girls’ night out” package for women ages 18 and older, which Faller said is ideal for birthdays and other celebrations. For $50, a group can rent the space for an evening, from 7 to 9 p.m., pick one class to take, and bring in their own refreshments.
