The Montana Women’s Run has announced $89,000 in donations to women’s health and fitness programs in the community.
Funds were raised from this year’s May 11 event, which attracted 8,583 participants.
Recipients of this year’s grants are: YWCA, $42,000; Billings Clinic Foundation, $24,000; Rocky Mountain College Women’s Cross Country Scholarship Program, $4,750; MSUB Women’s Cross-Country and Track Scholarship Programs, $4,750; and Billings YMCA, $13,000.
The Billings Food Bank was previously awarded $500 for use of its facility for the Women’s Run Kick-Off Dinner.
With this year’s contributions, the Montana Women’s Run has donated more than $741,000 to local organizations that promote women’s health and fitness.
The Montana Women’s Run began in 1982 with 200 registrants. Today it’s recognized as the largest running event for women in the state and one of the largest all-women’s races in the country.
Next year’s race is set for May 10.
